London Again

The next weekend, my family came back to the UK and I went to London to meet up with them.

I took a train from Grantham Thursday after class and got to London in time to get get to the hotel, settle in and get some dinner with my family.  Then, my parents took me to see Billy Elliot which I had been waiting to see for the past couple of months.  It was great, but it wasn't as great as i had expected it to be and I found myself slightly disappointed.  And, our Billy got sick 3/4 of the way through and had to be replaced by another Billy.  However, overall, it was a good show and I would recommend it to anyone going to London if you want to see a musical on the West End.

Friday, we woke up ate breakfast and went to see the sights, first we went into Chinatown for Sara to buy some gifts at the Fire Station, then we headed to Madame Toussauds.  Again, slightly disappointing and really just creepy.  Although, I did get some great pictures. Then, we headed to the south bank for the London Eye.  It was spectacular and did not disappoint at all.
When we got off the eye we headed down the embankment and went to the Tate Modern.  Amazing art and some really awesome exhibits with some original paintings by some of my favorites: Pollock, Escher and Dali and I have a new favorite in  Lee Krasner.  After the Tate, we headed to do some quick shooping on Oxford street, mainly Primark of course, where my amazing mummy treated me to shoes galore.  Then, it was time to get changed for the theatre.  We got changed, headed to the West End, got some Pizza Express and went to see Phantom of the Opera, Sara's choice.  It was...ummm...entertaining.  Then we went back and got some shut eye before my family had to leave for the States in the morning.

I was awoken by the wrestling of packing and showers.  I had to say good bye to my family that morning.  They left pretty early and i got a few minutes of alone time before breakfast.  I miss my family so much and i wish my time with them here had lasted so much longer, but it's not long now before I will be home in the States again.  I then had Saturday to myself with all of London at my leisure. I decided to take the Underground to Camden Market and do some shopping.  I soon grew tired and uncomfortable in Camden Market so I stumbled upon the less-touristy and more artsy section called Camden Lock.  I wandered around for hours, buying a large tapestry for The Boat, an old pub sign and a scarf for all under 25 pounds.  Then I go the best home-made veggie burger I have ever had, a Fanta and a cookie from some food stands and left for King's Cross, got on a train and went back to Harlaxton in time for dinner.
